Daily Cryptocurrency Tracker 1.5.19: Cryptos show recovery

After suffering significant losses over the past week, the cryptocurrency market showed a recovery over the past 24 hours, as all top 10 cryptos were seen higher at the time of writing. Bitcoin was up around 3%, once again nearing the $5,400 mark, last reached on Friday.

Bitcoin Cash leaps 13%

While all top 10 cryptos registered gains over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin Cash led the way, showing a significant uptick. Currently ranked 4th overall by market cap, Bitcoin Cash jumped more than 13% since yesterday. However, following the significant losses seen last Friday, BCH is still in the red for the week, with losses of more than 4% over the past 7 days.

Elon Musk generates interest in Ethereum

Serial entrepreneur Elon Musk recently generated much interest in Ethereum, after having a public discussion with Vitalik Buterin, creator of the Ethereum network. The Tesla founder started by simply tweeting the word “Ethereum,” on the social media network, which led to a back-and-forth with Buterin, discussing the blockchain network’s potential. Following the conversation, Ethereum searches on Google spiked, and the Ether crypto, currently ranked 2nd by market cap, registered gains of more than 3%.
