Daily Cryptocurrency Tracker 17.6.19: Bitcoin crosses $9,000

The majority of top 10 cryptos registered losses over the past 24 hours. However, over the weekend, many registered impressive gains. Bitcoin rose to a new yearly high, crossing the $9,000 mark and reaching as high as $9,200 yesterday. While showing a slight correction since, Bitcoin was still holding above $9,100 at the time of writing.

XRP remains in the green

Only 2 top 10 cryptos registered gains over the past 24 hours. Currently ranked 2nd overall by market cap XRP led the top 10, up around 1.6% at the time of writing. The recent gains registered by XRP added to its weekly total, giving it total gains of more than 9% over the past 7 days.

Report: Facebook to unveil crypto tomorrow

The much anticipated cryptocurrency to be launched by Facebook could go live as early as tomorrow. Crypto news website The Block reports that the crypto project, AKA Project Libra, will be unveiled by the social media giant tomorrow, alongside a testnet launch. According to earlier reports, the new crypto will be called GlobalCoin and will enable users of the social network, and other Facebook-owned platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, to send and receive payments and perform other money-related actions.
