Daily Cryptocurrency Tracker 4.6.19: Bitcoin tumbles below $8,000

After a long positive run in the crypto market, the majority of cryptocurrencies suffered heavy losses over the past 24 hours, as all top 10 cryptos were in the red at the time of writing, including 7 that fell 7% or more. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was down more than 7%, falling below the $8,000 mark.

EOS tumbles 11%

Quite a few top 10 cryptocurrencies registered significant losses over the past 24 hours. However, at the time of writing, the top 10 crypto with the largest decline was EOS. Currently ranked 6th overall by market cap, EOS tumbled more than 11% since yesterday. The recent losses completely erased all of EOS’ recent gains, bringing its weekly losses to more than 15%.

Carrefour reports sales boost after blockchain implementation

Aside from financial applications, one of the most popular use-cases in blockchain is monitoring and tracking supply chains. French retail giant Carrefour recently integrated such a system, and has recently reported a boost in sales attributed to its implementation. The system enables customers to track the supply chains of 20 products in the meat, dairy and produce categories, enabling them to avoid products with genetically modified organisms, antibiotics, and pesticides. The company said that following the successful trial, it will add 100 more products to the blockchain system this year.
