Wall Street closes lower
Despite strong Advance GDP data, US markets finished lower yesterday, as the DJ30, SPX500 and NSDQ100 all registered losses. Some of the losses are attributed to the Trump-Kim summit ending abruptly and without an agreement yesterday in Vietnam. Despite the negative momentum, some stocks reached new all-time highs yesterday, including PayPal, Salesforce and Boeing. The ISM Manufacturing PMI report will be released in the US today at 15:00 GMT, potentially impacting the USD and other financial instruments.
Today’s highlights: BNB registers impressive gains
- Binance Coin leaps 10%: While the majority of top 10 cryptos showed little movement over the past 24 hours, including Bitcoin which was nearly flat at the time of writing, Binance Coin (BNB) showed impressive gains, climbing more than 10%. The recent price surge erased all losses suffered by BNB since the major price dip in the crypto market last Sunday.
- Asia seen higher: Despite the negative close on Wall Street, markets in the East were seen higher this morning, as the JPN225 and China50 indices both rose by 1% or more, joined by the HKG50. One of the reasons for the gains in Asia could be reports that the US-China trade deal is coming along and could be signed soon.
- Tesla goes on a rollercoaster after-hours: Several announcements caused the Tesla stock to shift directions yesterday. A major announcement was made by CEO Elon Musk, saying the company will shift its sales to almost exclusively online. Later, Musk said that the company is unlikely to be profitable this quarter. Overall, the TSLA stock fell more than 3.2% in after-hours trading.
