The cryptocurrency market showed tremendous gains over the past 24 hours, as all top 10 cryptos registered gains, including 7 in double digits. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was up more than 13%, crossing the $8,000 mark for the first time since July of 2018. Today’s highlights: Global markets react to US-China trade war
- Wall Street suffers worst day since January: The ongoing trade spat between China and the US continued to impact markets yesterday, as the DJ30, SPX500 and NSDQ100 all registered their worst single day losses since January. The recent decline came after China retaliated to new tariffs imposed by the US with tariffs of its own.
- Uber continues to tumble: The ridesharing giant, who went public last week, opened this week with additional losses, closing more than 10% lower yesterday.
- CRISPR being tested for heart attack treatment: Researchers at Harvard Medical school have begun testing a CRISPR-based, one-off injection, aimed at drastically reducing the risk of heart attacks for people with genetic disorders. CRISPR is considered one of the most promising sectors of biomedicine, and on eToro, investors can gain exposure to this market through the CRISPR-Tech CopyPortfolio.
