Cryptos continue to gain
The positive trend in crypto markets continued over the past 24 hours, as 7 of the top 10 cryptos were seen higher at the time of writing. Bitcoin registered moderate gains of less than 0.5%, still trading below the $8,800 mark. The largest gains of the top 10 were seen in EOS, which was up more than 13%. Outside the top 10, Zcash also registered impressive gains, rising around 10% over the past 24 hours.
Today’s highlights: Global markets mostly higher
- Trump’s Japan visit lifts Asian markets: The US President is visiting Japan and yesterday held a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, saying the two countries might strike a trade deal soon. As a result, markets in the East were higher this morning, as the JPN225, China50 and HKG50 indices registered gains.
- Futures point to higher Wall Street open: US markets were closed yesterday due to a national holiday and will reopen again today. After closing higher on Friday, US indices are set to remain in the green when markets open today, as indicated by Wall Street futures.
- Alibaba reportedly aiming for $20 billion Hong Kong listing: The Chinese eCommerce giant, which raised $25 billion on Wall Street with its 2014 IPO, is now planning a secondary offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. According to Reuters, Alibaba will hold the offering as early as H2 of 2019 and will attempt to raise $20 billion.
